A few years ago, we offered for sale a Georgian travelling bookcase that was pleasantly small in proportions. If that one qualified as a ‘dwarf’, then the one we currently have on display can only be described as ‘Lilliputian’, the dimensions being 3’, 1’8” and 9”.

It is of plain mahogany construction with stout brass bindings and, in the open position, the doors consist of pleated silk (now Jaguar racing green) behind brass grilles. Inside there are adjustable shelves and on the left-hand side, a full-width drawer. As with its predecessor, the overall feel is civilian rather than military.
